I was ready to leave the daily routine just like you…
Hi! Let me introduce myself. My name is Tyler Rice and I have been living on the road as a nomad since 2011.
I decided that I was tired of the same “daily grind” and one day packed my bags and hit the road.
Since that moment I decided to leave, I have lived in many different vehicles including a conversion van, shuttle bus, truck with a camper shell, and a converted box truck.
Not only have I traveled in different vehicles, but I have learned how to earn different types of income on the road including marketing, music, odd-jobs, and writing.

So, you already live life on the road… (if not you can skip down further)
Then you already know that living out of a vehicle means ultimate freedom and brings a whole new outlook on life.
As another fellow traveler, I understand that it is not always the most eloquent lifestyle and that times can be difficult.
Even with the ups and downs of life on the road, if you are like me, you would not trade this lifestyle for anything else. Especially being confined to a 9 – 5 job working in an office desk with a small window.
Even after all these years of living out of a vehicle, there are always questions and inquiries that I have when it comes to the vehicle build or lifestyle that I wish had better answers online.
This site is created as a resource and community center for like-minded folks to come together and help each other out whether it be towards building a new home on wheels or fixing a solar panel that is not working correctly.
If you are here visiting then you might be interested in looking at additional ways to make income while traveling or certain upgrades you can make to your current build. First and foremost, congratulations on building the courage to live a life that is different than the “norm”.
But beginning this journey can be a daunting task and there are so many questions that come up when thinking about making this life-changing decision.
I am not here to try and tell you there is any “wrong” or “right” way to begin this transition. What works well for one individual may be drastically different than another.
Regardless of how a person begins this journey, I commonly see two questions that almost any new traveler has.
How do I earn an income while traveling?
and what type of vehicle would be best to live out of?
I am not here to try and sell you the latest and greatest solution to these questions.
The truth is, there are multiple ways to earn an income on the road and choosing a new home on wheels can be completely different depending on an individual’s wants and needs.
But I can speak from personal experience with my own ventures and with the people I have interviewed and talked with over drinks around late-night campfires. I myself have made a living on the road through music, digital marketing, work-trades, writing, and even Craigslist odd-jobs.
I have also lived in multiple vehicles including a truck with a 6 ft. bed and camper shell, conversion van, European passenger van, shuttle bus, and a converted box truck along with coming across new friends on the road with any type of build you can imagine.
Don’t know where to get started? Check out one of the first articles I wrote which discusses multiple possible ways to make an income on the road to get your creativity flowing.
